This morning we saddled up (our bikes) and rode back to Davis Island where we were treated to a breakfast of eggs, pancakes, and bacon. After breakfast we hit the road headed for Lakeland. It was a tough ride not in terms of distance but rather because of an unexpected construction detour, crowded roads, and strong head winds. My pace line also faced two flat tires. Despite these complications, the team made it to this afternoon’s friendship visit and enjoyed some great southern food with the folks at Webster Memorial Baptist Church. There we presented another performance of the Kids On the Block puppet show.
We then rode to Sunrise Community’s location in Lakeland, aka tonight’s lodging. After showers and a team meeting, people from local group homes came by for a mexican style dinner.
